Combined with its close neighbor, the Chapel Hill-Carrboro area has approximately making it the 16th-largest municipality in North Carolina. Even though, Chapel Hill is a principal city of a large metropolitan area, it still manages retains a relatively small-town feel.

If you want to experience the "pulse" of Chapel Hill come out to Franklin St. This is the main street that runs through the center of the city and boasts many restaurants, businesses, museums as well as University of North Carolina main campus. Slightly outside of the city center you will find other things to do such as the local University Mall with it's new Silver Spot Theater and famous Southern Seasons store.
